Just Updated 8/30/2016: Flavio Maluf broke down what Brexit means for Brazil. With the threat of Brexit looming over the world economy, Flavio spoke to Exame about what the UK’s exit from the European Union will mean for Brazil. While the connection may not be immediately evident, Mr. Maluf broke down many reasons why this could actually have a massive part to play in Brazil’s future.
Flavio Maluf is the president of Eucatex and has been working in the company for over 30 years. He is known as a mechanical engineer, a lawyer and a successful entrepreneur. The Maluf family are known as the owners of Eucatex. He graduated from Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP) in São Paulo. He also lived abroad for a year working and studying administration at the New York University (NYU). He is also the president of GrandFood Group.
Flavio Maluf has worked in Eucatex group since 1987 beginning his career in the trade area of the company. Later on he moved to the industrial area until the year 1996.In that same year, he became a part of the frame executives Eucatex Group and with great collaboration he became successful resulting into good results for the company. Hence by an agreement involving the family and everyone else, he became president of Eucatex Group. He started modernization as the management format of the company. In 2010, Flavio Maluf led Eucatex in opening a new plant at Salto in São Paulo. It also has another factory in Botucatu. Flavio is also keen to participate in charity events and volunteer programs so as to lend back to the local community, an example being, his collaboration with the Hospital and Maternity Idio Carli.
Eucatex began in 1951 as the first Brazilian company to exclusively work on environmental issues and environmental, acoustic comfort. It was the first company in Brazil to use eucalyptus in production of tiles and ceiling panels. It now serves as the furniture and construction industries. It has participated in leasing and forestry partnership since the start of its activities. Eucatex as a company has proven to be beneficial to the groups that have partnered with it. For example, the Environmental Education Program has helped students, collaborators and groups dedicated to conservation by shading light on the handling of forests, and training educators to work with students and be able to handle everyday situations.
Eucatex has been successful as a result of exporting their products. Flavio Maluf has credited the company’s success and growth to the exports, especially earning profits amounting to R$ 10.7 Million in the year 2014. Also in 2014, the market for Eucatex products is estimated to have risen by 30%. Even as an engineer, Flavio has proven to be a knowledgeable and confident businessman that has built a small business into a worldwide competitor in the building and construction industries. He has ensured that Eucatex as a business has experience, confidence and a competent group of executives, that understand both the global and Brazilian market.
